I bought this to have a DVI interface. I used it with my T400 and my T61 work. Amazon has good prices compared to Lenovo, but I call it woldn't much ($ 150 is too little to pay a visit to DVI). After a second cable and power supply is a bonus. A 6-pin FireWire port would be nice. The new dock for T400 has DisplayPort and eSATA, which is an improvement work of Nice, but not with older laptops. If you are in this port, it is also a look at the new docking station Lenovo USB is interesting, but I do not want my dock connected to a single channel USB.

If you have a job, a place that you can use frequently, this dock is a welcome addition. It allows you to all ports and devices to stay connected at all times and accessible only by plugging into the laptop. Expansion Options are good, as others have detailed. I am particularly pleased with the S / PDIF optical audio output which allows connection to high-quality audio to a receiver.

I bought one of these for my Lenovo T61, four months ago, especially for a "real" serial port, which is still widely used in embedded development in which I might add (USB-serial work Using CT unacceptable overhead rate of data transfer). The serial interface operates at full speed with RS-232 levels – there is no appeal. Since I also appreciated the four additional USB ports and the convenience of all cables still connected to the mini-dock, if I leave my laptop off site. I had no mechanical problems, and I dock / detach on almost daily. But I have enough problems with the OS took off (running WinXP SP3) I have learned that it is less problematic to Shut Down the T61 just before departure. Also, if you happen to connect the power supply to the dock while being disconnected, the lock in any case the OS. Except for the serial port and Ethernet jack, I have not used any of the other ports (parallel inheritance, Audio Out / Mic-in, DVI, VGA, Modem, PS /) 2 can not make comments on them. The dock comes with a 90W power supply. It would be nice if the mini-dock, a stand (like Lenovo ThinkPad Adjustable Notebook Stand, which I ordered), I now have on-site support is home to the best angle on the keyboard get the T61. Of course, the crucial question would be: "I'll buy it again?". The answer is yes – I just ordered another for office use at home.

Do not attach the screen (T61 wide) laptop works well with the docking station. You must therefore Gentele in all, if the site is available in the dock. Mechanics – they could have done a much better job. I need the docking station, RS-232 and LPT ports that T61 is not alone. As it does not really cost effective solution. The docking station is too expensive in my opinion, not only for my needs. So if you use this device only for I / O extensions to consider, I propose a much cheaper solution in the form of – LPT: PCMCIA – RS-232: USB serial cable.
